Tuesday Talks- Are Comic Books and Manga considered reading?

Tuesday Talks is a Goodreads group started by Janie and Janelle. The group is Tuesday Talks.

I know I am super late but here is mine.

I do consider graphic novels and manga as books. These even though they do have pictures have a substantial amount of pages. For me personally, it takes me awhile to read those even though they do not have many words. Also I do not read many of these either so yeah.

Comic books on the other hand are so much shorter, I would not consider them books. If they are in one big book then yes.

So there is my Tuesday Talks. What do you think about this subject?

Waiting On Wednesday

This is a weekly meme created by Breaking The Spine. This is where we we choose books that we are excited about! This is my first one that I am doing so here goes.

My most anticipated book this week is:

Crimson Bound :
Publication Date: May 5, 2015.

Blurb from Goodreads: "When Rachelle was fifteen she was good—apprenticed to her aunt and in training to protect her village from dark magic. But she was also reckless— straying from the forest path in search of a way to free her world from the threat of eternal darkness. After an illicit meeting goes dreadfully wrong, Rachelle is forced to make a terrible choice that binds her to the very evil she had hoped to defeat.

Three years later, Rachelle has given her life to serving the realm, fighting deadly creatures in an effort to atone. When the king orders her to guard his son Armand—the man she hates most—Rachelle forces Armand to help her find the legendary sword that might save their world. As the two become unexpected allies, they uncover far-reaching conspiracies, hidden magic, and a love that may be their undoing. In a palace built on unbelievable wealth and dangerous secrets, can Rachelle discover the truth and stop the fall of endless night?

Inspired by the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, Crimson Bound is an exhilarating tale of darkness, love, and redemption."

I recently read Cruel Beauty by this author and loved it! Cannot wait for this to come out!
What book are you waiting for?

Books, Books, and more Books!!!!

So today I wanted to show you guys the books I have purchased recently. I do hauls on my YouTube channel but I'm not sure if everyone sees them. So I just wanted to post some pictures on here. If you have read anything these books let me know! I need to figure out which one to read next :)

These I purchased from The Book Depository. Mainly because I wanted the UK version of Forgive M, Leonard Peacock and Fire & Blood.

These came from Book Outlet! I only purchased this order for the Opposition book. I needed the last one in the same edition!

This one was mainly because of the two Lux books. I wanted that edition of course. Even though everyone hates it. I actually love it :). I also got the collectors edition of Eleanor & Park. It is so pretty!

So my friend bought me Hex Hall! Of course I had to get the rest of the series to make up for it! I have read these!

I have read this book and loved it! I got it off the Book Depository as well. I started it the day I got it! Great book :).

What books have you bought recently??

Finding Paris by Joy Preble

This book is about Leo and Paris, two completely different sisters. Paris more into guys and seems to be more wild. While Leo is a good girl who wants to be a doctor and is working. She has saved up money for college. The girls mother would rather move from state to state and guy to guy then take care of her kids. There current step-dad could care less about them either. One day Paris and Leo go to Las Vegas to get some pie from a diner. They meet a lovely guy named Max Sullivan. Max and Leo are talking then Leo learns that the car and Paris are gone along with all Leos belongings. Then Leo finds a note from Paris asking her to look for her.

Things I enjoyed:
1) I loved the relationship between Paris and Leo. They are very close because they have to relay on each other. It kind of made me envious of the relationship.
2) Max Sullivan- Until I found out why he was there I loved him. Well I loved him after that to but still. He was so sweet to Leo and pretty much did everything he could to help her.
3) Leo as a character was awesome. She clearly cared for her sister and just wanted to find her. During most of the book I felt like all her sister was doing was using her and that made me mad.
4) The writing was very addicting. I finished this in a day. Mind you I do that alot, but only to books I really enjoyed.

Things I was not fond of:
1) Paris- I felt like she was selfish. I get why she did what she did but how you going to take the car, your sisters phone and purse and expect her to find you in Las Vegas. That to me was ridiculous!
2) The parents were not my favorite people. I do not like the way the stepfather talked to the girls. Also the mother did not seem to care her child was missing.

With that being said I would recommend this book. I still gave it a high rating dispite my issues with it. I still thought it was a great story.

My rating: ♥♥♥♥

* I received an e-arc of this book for free from Edelweiss in exchange for my honest reveiw*

Bookish Buzzwords and Deal Breakers

So I have seen a few videos on peoples Buzzwords and Deal breakers for books. I was coming up with some last night and I have quite a few! So I decided I wanted to write a post on it. I may even do a video eventually though.

Buzzwords:
Words or Phrases that makes me want to read the book more

1) Forbidden Love- This is pretty self explanatory.  I love books with love stories that are unconventional. Ones that are really not suppose to happen because the characters are from different worlds or species.

2) Psychological Thrillers- I am completely addicted to these. Anytime someone says its a thriller. I am more inclined to buy it and add it to my tbr.

3) Mermaids- I have only read a few of these but I absolutely love mermaids.

4) Fairy tale Retelling's- Another one where I have not read many books in the genre but I love the idea of it. I have picked up a lot of books just because it is a fairy tale retelling.

5) Revenge- Anytime a book has revenge type plot I am so there. I need it in my life no matter how twisted it is.

6) Different Writing Mediums- This means books that are told in texts, IMs, emails, letters. I love those type of books. I think if its done well it is so great to read.

Deal Breakers:
Words or phrases that make me roll my eyes in the book or make me not want to read it.(FYI these are not set in stone. Sometimes I may still read the book.)

1) Instalove- Gosh, this just makes me so mad. It is not realistic and most of the time not necessary. I really just roll my eyes when this happens and normally the book looses a star rating.

2) Love Triangles- I feel like so many books I read have these. It is beyond annoying. The female character is always the one that has them.

3) Companion Series- I do like series and trilogies. I can barely read all of them in order at once but I do read a lot of them. I absolutely hate when the books are described as companion novels. This normally means whoever the characters were in the first book will not be in the second. They may be mentioned a time or two but companion novels are different characters. It drives me so crazy. If I fall in love with characters in the first book I think they should be in the rest of the series but no!

4) Weird Character Names- This is definitely not a "I won't read it" deal breaker. This is more of a annoyance. I will either skip that name when I read the book or just say blank because I cant pronounce it.

5) Classics- I do not know why but I cannot  read classics. I do like certain retellings but do not like the actual classic.

6) Sex Scenes- I do read alot of YA so I guess the reason I say this is because I have become very spoiled by books grazing over sex. I know it happens and that is great but I do not need to know details. I find it unnecessary most of the time. I normally end up skipping pages. If the story is good beside that I will continue if not I normally do not finish the book.

So there are some of my buzzwords and deal breakers. I didn't do them all because we would be here all day. What are some of yours??

T5W- Bookish Habits

Hey ya'll. I know I'm super late to this but I have been trying to upload my video since yesterday and it is just not working! It keeps saying I have 4,000 hours to wait. So I am finally off work and I am going to do this now!

This was created by Lainey over at GingerReadsLainey. If you are interested in participating here is the Good-reads group Top 5 Wednesday.

This weeks topic is Top 5 Bookish Habits!

1) I like to split up my books into 3 different sections. This is regardless of how long it is.
2) I always take off the dust jacket on a hardcover book
3) I try so hard to keep my paperbacks looking like new. I will literally read it in such weird ways just so I don't break the spine.
4) Pretty much at the end of every chapter I will write what I thought of the book thus far. Unless I'm in bed reading in which I will write in a note on my phone :)
5) I hardly ever go to actual book stores. Most of the books I have I have bought online. With this being said I feel like I have an art for getting used books online. Most of the books I get are super cheap and in great condition!

So there are my 5 bookish habits!
Let me know what yours are :)

The Dawn: The Bombs Fall by Michelle Muckley

This book follows Zachary Christian, a resident of the Delta Tower. A tower he has been stuck in since a bomb fell and everything around it crumbled to pieces and the tower is the only thing left. Now it is a new society called The Republic of Omega. Zachary is not only trying to survive in this word but also wants to find away out of the Delta Tower.

What I liked:
1) Zach had alot of issues but that was okay with me. I liked him from the start.
2) Leonard- Another character that I was completely invested in and just wanted to know what was going to happen to him.
3) The writing of the book was great. I liked how descriptive it was. I find a lot of short books kind of skim over things but this one did not.
4) The length- I'm sure I will not be the only one to say this but I wish it was longer. I feel as though a lot of things could have been wrapped up better it it had been longer, but its really not a big deal.

Keep in mind I have never read a post apocalyptic book like this. I enjoyed this one enough to continue to read the series and also more of this genre as well.

The Ultimate Book Tag

I just saw this on Laura's blog at Blue Eye Books. It looked like a really awesome tag so I decided I wanted to do it. All you do is answer 25 book related questions so here we go :).

1)  Do you get sick while reading in the car?
Well I hardly ever read in the car but no I don't think I get sick.
2) Which authors writing style is completely unique to you and why?
I cant really think of one that is unique.
3) Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 Points to defend your answer!
Twilight. 1) I read it before it was popular. 2) It got me back into reading 3) I don't have another reason lol.
4) Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it?
I do not carry a book back
5) Do you smell your books?
Not normally. Sometimes it just kind of happens.
6) Book with or without little illustrations?
I would say book with little illustrations. I think it gives it something extra.
7) What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn't quality writing?
This will be a cliche answer but I will go with Twilight.
8) Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!
This is probably not very funny but I used to cry when I had to read. Like full out sobbing, tears running, everything. It was bad. I laugh at it now.
9) What is the thinnest book on your shelf?
Go Do Go by Dr. Suess. ( I realize that this is embarrassing)
10) What is the thickest book on your shelf?
Under the Dome by Stephen King
11) Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?
Yes I do write. I write songs and stories(None that I have finished though). I would love to be an author but I don't think I'm cute out for it.
12) When did you get into reading?
I got into reading back in 2008. I was working as a waitress and my coworker brought Twilight and she said I had to read it. So I borrowed hers and read it while at work.
13) What is your favorite classic book?
I don't read classics. So no favorite here.
14) In school, was your best subject Language Arts/English?
Definitely not. I was horrible at that subject. My best subject was Math.
15) If you were given a book as a present that you had read before but hated, what would you do?
I would say thank you and act excited. Then I would give it away. Of course it would be way after so that person forgets about it.
16) What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or The Hunger Games?
First thing that comes to my mind is The Testing. Its closer to The Hunger Games.
17) What is a bad habit that you always do while blogging?
I like to color code things, have you noticed?
18) What is your favorite word?
All of them :)
19) Are you a nerd, dork or dweeb. Or all of the above?
Nerd? I don't really like to label myself
20) Vampires or Fairies? Why?
Vampires because I can live forever
21) Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?
Angels, but I'm not sure why.
22) Spirits or Werewolves?
I will be a werewolf.
23) Zombies or Vampires?
Again Vampires
24) Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
I hate love triangles! So forbidden love hands down!
25) Full on romance or action-packed with a few loves scenes mixed in?
It really depends on my mood, here lately it has been full romance.

That is all the tag questions! I loved these questions. If you want to do this tag go for it!

Series I Don't Think I Will Ever Read

So I have seen alot of videos of book unhauls. I am sure everyone is aware of them but if you are not familiar. This is basically where people show the books they are getting rid of. I have filmed a video for my YouTube channel(I have not uploaded it yet). Then  I was looking through the rest of my shelves and I see so many books that I just don't want to keep anymore. When I first started blogging and Book tubing, I literally bought every book I seen someone talk about. Since then I have become a person who has no qualms about DNFing a book if I get half way through and am not enjoying it. I have also become very aware of the fact that I am not going to enjoy everything that everyone does. So I say all that to say this, right now I am posting more books that I am debating on getting rid of. I would like feedback if this series/book is amazing and I need to keep it :).
Here we go!!

First off, The Unwind Trilogy?

Next I have the Caster Chronicles Series(I have the first three books):

The Luxe Series. I have all four books but bought them for the covers. How could anyone pass these up?

In case you need an explanation, its to long! Is it worth the commitment?

I have the first two of this trilogy. Seems interesting!

Another one by Sarah Shepherd. I don't understand why her series have to be so long.

I am prepared for a lot of people to be like what? you want get rid of those. Yes! I read almost half of the first one and was not getting the point. I feel like it turned into a romance story and I was not expecting that from this trilogy. I do have the first two so I way try to get through the first one.

Another one that I don't feel like needs a complete reason. If you haven't noticed I have commitment issues.

The Gallagher Series. I have 2 books in this series. I don't even think I have the first one, so I'm clearly thinking of getting rid of this since I don't have the whole series!

The last one I have. Go ahead gasp. I have not read this series at all. I started reading Cinder and could not get into for some reason, even though the story seems so cool!.

Okay so there you have it. Series that I have but haven't read and for some reason don't feel like I need anymore. Let me know if any of ya'll have read these series and if you think they are worth reading.

Tuesday Talks #1

Hey ya'll. So I am doing my Tuesday Talks on here since for some reason I forgot what day it was. So yeah next week I will definitely be doing a video because hopefully I know what day of the week it is. Anyway this was created by Janie at Bookworms Buddy and Janelle at MrsJRodsReads. I will link the Good-reads group below.

This weeks topic is Should Authors Provide There Books For Review?

My answer to this question is very simple. I do think that in order for me to review the book the author should provide the book. I think for Indie authors this is especially important. If no one has ever heard of you or your book then you obviously want people to read it. So for me if you are making me purchase your book I will be less inclined to review it. I honestly do not think its right for an author to expect you to review a book for them and make you pay for it. To me it is common courtesy if you contact me about reviewing a book please provide a copy. I'm not saying the author has to send a physical copy because I would take a PDF or whatever version. All i'm trying to say is if you are wanting a reviewer to take time out of there days to read your book don't be rude and make them pay for it.
*This is just my opinion, everyone is entitled to them :)*

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

This book follows Theodore Finch and Violet. Theodore is obsessed with death and wants to commit suicide but seems to have bad luck going through with it. Violet is counting down til graduation so she can go to college. Violet's sister just died in an accident and she is trying to cope with that. One day Finch and Violet are paired together for a Geography project. They experience the state of Indiana with each other.

Things I liked:
1) Violet- She is hands down my favorite character. I related to her a lot. You feel her grief as well as her trying to move on just not knowing really how to do that.
2) Theodore- I will admit at first I was not fond of this character. Until he met Violet, he was not my favorite but I really enjoyed his relationship with Violet.
3) The adventures that Violet and Finch went are were so cute and just ahh.

Thing I Was Not Fond Of:
1) Ryan- I did not like this guy from the beginning. He was just a jerk and I could have lived without him.

First off I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. It gave me all the feels. I laughed, cried and was smiling during the whole book. It was just amazing. I would recommend this to anyone!

My rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Into The Deep by Lauryn April

This book is about Ivy, a young girl who has a pretty great life. She has a great group of friends, well one that seems like it is. Ivy is a pretty normal girl. She is close with her mother and sister but her father is barely home. One day Ivy and her friends go to a beach house to hang out. While there something happens that changes Ivy's life forever.

I do not want to give away to much of this story because I feel like if you go into it blind then you will probably enjoy it way more. I read the synopsis and was intrigued because I really wanted to know what happened.

Things I liked:
I gave this 5 stars so there is a lot of things I enjoyed!
1) Ivy- Gosh did I love her character. She wasn't the stereotypical ya character. She is strong, learns lessons real fast, and is really smart.
2) Brant- Although I did not like him at first, I grew to love him and he was my favorite character.
3) The story was very engaging at beginning, I loved that part of it.
4) The ending was fitting to me. It pretty much tied up everything in a nice little bow.

Things I looked past:
1) Ivy's friends- Gosh these girls just made me super mad. Glad they were not huge in the book because I don't think I would have enjoyed this book as much.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. It is a great story.

* I received this book from the author*
