Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

From Goodreads:
Emmy’s best friend, Oliver, reappears after being kidnapped by his father ten years ago. Emmy hopes to pick up their relationship right where it left off. Are they destined to be together? Or has fate irreparably driven them apart?

Emmy just wants to be in charge of her own life.

She wants to stay out late, surf her favorite beach—go anywhere without her parents’ relentless worrying. But Emmy’s parents can’t seem to let her grow up—not since the day Oliver disappeared.

Oliver needs a moment to figure out his heart.

He’d thought, all these years, that his dad was the good guy. He never knew that it was his father who kidnapped him and kept him on the run. Discovering it, and finding himself returned to his old hometown, all at once, has his heart racing and his thoughts swirling.

Emmy and Oliver were going to be best friends forever, or maybe even more, before their futures were ripped apart. In Emmy’s soul, despite the space and time between them, their connection has never been severed. But is their story still written in the stars? Or are their hearts like the pieces of two different puzzles—impossible to fit together?

My Review:
This book really surprised me. I actually thought this would be heavy on the romance but it really was not. It was more of a coming of age kind of book.

Things I liked:
1) Emmy- Words cannot express how much I liked this character. She was funny, sarcastic and just sweet.

2) Oliver- I liked learning his story. It was really heart breaking. Even though he has been through a lot I felt like he turned into a lovely young man.

3) I thought the writing of this book was beyond beautiful. I would normally not like so much detail in everyday life but in this book I felt like it was really necessary and it was done so well.

Things I Was Not Fond Of:
1) Emmy's Parents: My oh my. They were ridiculously over protective. I understand why they were like that but they really just needed to calm down and let Emmy have a life.

2) The ending- This is probably me being selfish but I really wanted a stronger ending.

I would recommend this book to anyone. It was amazing.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Goodreads Synopsis:
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

My review:
Wow I found this book to be really enjoyable. Definitely love Colleen Hoover's writing.

Things I liked:
1) Tate- Even though she did some questionable things and made weird decisions I still felt like she was a strong character.

2) Miles- In the beginning of this book he would not have made the list of things I liked. This is because for me he strong Tate along but after awhile I really started to like him.

3) Cap- Wow, what a lovely man! So smart and wise and finally someone listened to him.

4) The writing- This is my second Colleen Hoover book and she literally cannot do any wrong in my mind. Although I liked this book I think the last 60 pages were the best. I had all the feels at the end.

Things I was not fond of:
1) The arrangement. It drove me crazy! I don't like how Tate was kind of used in my opinion.

My rating: ♡♡♡♡

Joanne’s plan backfires, however, when Melanie meets Sam, a Native American boy hired by the home's owner to tend to the property. Sam is nothing like the Hollywood boys Melanie knowshe¹s poor, his father's a drunk who possesses a bizarre gift inherited from a Kootenai Shaman, and his only brother disappeared into the mountains after the death of their mother eight years before. What transpires over a mere 36 hours after Sam and Melanie meet changes both of their lives in ways they never thought possible.

My Review:
In the beginning I thought this book was going to be good but it kind of went down hill for me.

Things I liked:
1) I loved Melanie as a character. I felt bad for her a lot of the time having to deal with her really annoying mother but she was not stupid like some female characters tend to be.

2) I liked the coming of age story. It was great to see Melanie become more confident and realize that her friends should like her not just for her looks.

3) The twist was very unexpected. I was rather shocked because from that point the story was pretty tame.

Things I was not fond of:
1) The mother- Wow she literally has to be the worst mother ever. She pretty much just wanted her daughter to do all these things she didn't want to do. Ahh she annoyed me.

2) Kurt- So not a nice guy and just weird

3) The instalove. I am never a fan of this but I think this was the worst one I have read in awhile. It was just ridiculous.

4) The ending- Another ending I was just underwelmed with. I don't feel like it wrapped anything up and that was really disappointing.

With all this being said I still enjoyed this book just didn't love like I had hoped I would. I would have loved it to be longer and maybe the ending could have been better.

Second Life by S.J. Watson

From Goodreads: The sensational new psychological thriller from the bestselling author of Before I Go To Sleep.

She loves her husband. She's obsessed by a stranger.

She's a devoted mother. She's prepared to lose everything.

She knows what she's doing. She's out of control.

She's innocent. She's guilty as sin.

She's living two lives. She might lose both . . .

I cannot tell you how excited I was when I received this book for review. I absolutely loved Before I Go To Sleep and could not wait to read more from this author. Here goes my review.

Things I liked:
1) I still love the way SJ writes. It so dark and captivating.

2) I loved learning about the cyber sex world. It was something I knew happened but it was nice to learn more about it.

3) I felt like the book took off so well. It drew you in the beginning.

Things I was not fond of:
1) Julia- I felt like she was super unlikable. I did not connect with her what so ever.

2) At times I felt like this book was rather boring. In the beginning it was so addicting but some parts in the middle and end were just not necessary in my opinion.

3) The ending was really not my favorite.

With all this being said, I did not absolutely hate this book. I felt like It was well written still. I would recommend this if you have read SJ Watson's other book. If you loved Before I Go To Sleep do not have higher hopes for this because I  don't think that book can be repeated because it was so great!

Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls by Lynn Weingarten

From Goodreads:
June barely has time to mourn the death of her best friend Delia, before Delia's ex-boyfriend convinces her Delia was murdered, and June is swept into a tangle of lies, deceit, and conspiracy.

My Review:
Let me start my saying that I was so excited about reading this book but it really fell flat for me.

Things I Liked:
1) June- What a great friend. She stood up for a friend that she lost touch with. You really do not see that with teenagers.

2) Ryan- I felt bad for him in the beginning at least

3) Jeramiah- Even though he turned into someone I didn't like. In the beginning I really enjoyed how he wanted to find out the truth about Delia's death.

4) The mystery of the book in the beginning was great.

Things I was not fond of:
1) Ryan- The last part of the book he turned into a jerk and did really questionable things.

2) Once the mystery of what happened to Delia was revealed the book just went down hill from there.

3) Normally flashbacks would be in my liked list but in this book they were rather boring. I found myself skimming through most of them.

4) The perspective thing. The first half was pretty much in 1 perspective then it switched to 2 then back to 1. Why you may ask?? No idea because it really was not necessary. That annoyed me so much!

Overall, I didn't absolutely hate this book but then again I really didn't love it. The perspective thing really turned me off and confused me. I felt like the book was hard to follow because of that.

Paperweight by Meg Haston

From Goodreads:
Seventeen-year-old Stevie is trapped. In her life. In her body. And now in an eating-disorder treatment center on the dusty outskirts of the New Mexico desert.

Life in the center is regimented and intrusive, a nightmare come true. Nurses and therapists watch Stevie at mealtime, accompany her to the bathroom, and challenge her to eat the foods she’s worked so hard to avoid.

Her dad has signed her up for sixty days of treatment. But what no one knows is that Stevie doesn't plan to stay that long. There are only twenty-seven days until the anniversary of her brother Josh’s death—the death she caused. And if Stevie gets her way, there are only twenty-seven days until she too will end her life.

My Review:
*Major trigger warning alert* If you have any issues with eating disorders please be aware when you read this book.

Things I liked:
1) Stevie- Although some of her thoughts were really kind of disturbing I still really liked her character. She started out this girl who blamed her self for alot and then turned into a girl who quit doing that.

2) I loved the flashbacks. Although I wish they flowed a little better.

3) Ashley- I mean this should be a no brainer.

4) The way this book was written is amazing. I normally hate day to day type of books because they can be boring but this one was great. The days made sense to the story which was nice.

5) The eating disorder subject was done well. I have personally never had an eating disorder but I think the way way that part of the book was written is how people would act.

6) The therapist- I have read a lot of books with therapist lately and yeah the therapist were good. The therapist in this one seemed to genuinely care about Stevie and wanted to see her well.

Things I was not fond of:
1) Eden- My oh my. This girl made me mad from the get go. She was mean and selfish and just did not care about anyone.

2) Stevie's Mom- This woman deserves the award for worst mother ever.

3) The ending- I am not sure what is up with me and endings here recently but I have not been satisfied with them here recently. I was enjoying the whole book then when it came to the end it was meh. I do not feel like it wrapped up anything really.

I would recommend this book to anyone. It was touching and so heartbreaking. At the same time it was so amazing.

Confess by Colleen Hoover

From Goodreads:
Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

My Review:
I have heard a lot of hype about Colleen Hoover. I didn't really think I would like New Adult but I am so glad I gave this a chance.

Things I liked:
1) Auburn- I fee like some of the things she did were not safe but none the less I really enjoyed her. She was funny, sarcastic and sweet.

2)Owen- At first I was not fond of him but after awhile I really started to enjoy him. I understood by he did what he did most of the time.

3) The writing I found to be addicting. I read most of this book in one sitting because I could not put it down

4) The ending- If you haven't noticed the endings of books have been bleh but for this book I liked the ending. It wrapped up every real nice.

5) The confess aspect. I don't want to give spoilers but I loved this aspect of it.

Things I was not fond of:
1) Auburn's name- So I'm aware that I am nitpicking here but every time I seen her name I just got irritated.

2) Trey- If you have read this you will no why. No explanation needed.

Charlie, Presumed Dead by Anne Heltzel

From Goodreads:
In Paris, family and friends gather to mourn the tragic passing of Charlie Price—young, handsome, charming, a world-traveler—who is presumed dead after an explosion. Authorities find only a bloodied jacket, ID’d as Charlie’s. At the funeral, two teens who are perfect strangers, Lena Whitney and Aubrey Boroughs, make another shocking discovery: they have both been dating Charlie, both think Charlie loved them and them alone, and there is a lot they didn’t know about their boyfriend. Over the next week, a mind-bending trip unfolds: first in London—then in Mumbai, Kerala, and Bangkok, the girls go in search of Charlie. Is he still alive? What did their love for him even mean? The truth is out there, but soon it becomes clear that the girls are harboring secrets of their own.

My review:
I was so glad when I received this book. I was really hoping I would love this and boy did it deliver.

Things I liked:

1) Lena- For some reason I really liked her more than Aubrey. Both girls were horrible but I liked Lena's whole personality more.

2) I loved the different perspectives. It was great getting into the head of each person.

3) I loved the way this was written. It kept you on your toes most of the time.

Things I was not fond of:

1) Even though I loved the writing of this book. I felt like it was predictable in some parts. It may be because I have read a lot of thrilleresque books but I still do like to be surprised.

2) I thought the book was kind of rushed. A lot happened in to short of a time.

3) The ending: What the actually heck?? That was a major cliffhanger. This better continue :).

From Goodreads:
Before: It was the perfect summer of first kisses, skinny-dipping, and bonfires by the lake. Joy, Tali, Luce, and Zoe knew their final summer at Camp Okahatchee would come to an end, but they swore they’d stay friends.

After: Now, two years later, their bond has faded along with those memories.

Then: That is, until the fateful flash of a photo booth camera transports the four of them back in time, to the summer they were fifteen—the summer everything changed.

Now: The girls must recreate the past in order to return to the present. As they live through their second-chance summer, the mystery behind their lost friendship unravels, and a dark secret threatens to tear the girls apart all over again.

My Review:
The synopsis of this book seemed great but I found it rather boring!

Things I liked:
1) The concept was obviously the reason I wanted to read this book.

2) I liked the time travel aspect of it.

3) The cover is really pretty. It draws you in for sure.

Things I was not fond of:

1) The characters were really not memorable. I found them to be boring and I had no connection with any of them.

2) This book was rather slow. It took me not long to read but that was me pushing my self.

3) I didn't understand why the girls made some of the decisions they did. Made no sense.

4) I was bored. The storyline didn't grasp me like I had hoped and by the end I no longer cared.
